The 5th Annual Trivia Bee competition is now seeking Trivia Teams, Media Sponsors, and Round Sponsors. You can fill out an online reservation form here to join in the fun! Join us at this year's Bee as up to 49 local teams compete in this spirited community competition held February 20th at the Tower Theatre. Each spring this highly anticipated community event pits friends, business competitors, colleagues and rivals against one another, all competing for the coveted Trivia championship and the new roating Trivia Cup! Last years winning team, The Miller Lumber Softwoods team will be back again to defend their title against all challengers.

About the Bee

The Trivia Bee is is our signature fundraising event to benefit our children and schools. Held each February, this exciting event is one of the best community events of the year. Each year, all funds raised go to support our efforts at the Foundation, with a significant portion of the funds distributed to teachers and schools through our Classroom Impact Grants Program. Our goal this year is to break the $40,000 mark, which can be achieved through the support of concerned citizens and businesses. Here's how the Trivia Bee works:

  • Up to 49 teams of three adults each compete against each other to answer trivia questions.
  • There are typically seven teams per round, seven qualifying rounds and one championship round for the winning teams from each qualifying round.
  • An announcer reads trivia questions from the following categories: arts and entertainment; current events; history; local people, places and events; nature and science; and sports.
  • Teams are given time to confer and write their answer on an erasable white board. (All teams in a round answer the same questions.)
  • When the bell rings, teams display their answers to the judges and audience.
  • Each team receives a point for a correct answer.
  • Questions may be multiple choice, free response, or true / false. The team with the most points at the end of the round advances to the Championship Round. (In case of a tie, there is an exciting sudden death play-off.)
  • This year, there will be a "best team name" competition and a chance to buy the right to "ask the audience" one time per round, per team.

Rules for the Championship Round are the same as for the qualifying rounds. While questions are designed to be a little challenging, the main idea of the Trivia Bee is to have FUN!
