School-Based Initiatives


These are independent projects that have been presented and approved by the Foundation Board of Directors to be their fiduciary sponsor. Any group or individual seeking to raise funds for a special project for the Bend-LaPine Schools is encouraged to call the Foundation office at 322-5493 or e-mail educfund@bend.k12.or.us

Upcoming Projects for the Education Foundation:

Dreamhouse

The Dreamhouse is a Bend High School Life Skills Program project to raise funds for construciton of a greenhouse on their campus where students can learn responsibility, teamwork and management skills. The greenhouse will be available for use by all students in the district.

Early Literacy Program (ELP)

The Early Literacy Program is a collaborative project between the district, a statewide reading program and a local chapter of concerned citizens to raise funds to support coorinators who help our youngest students learn to read.

Field and Athletic Surface Taskforce (F.A.S.T.)

F.A.S.T. intends to finance the installation of a synthetic playing surface on the main sports field at Summit High School. This effort is part of a larger initiative to insure that the students in the Bend-LaPine Schools have athletic surfaces that are consistent with other school districts in the State of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.

h3>Summit Initiative to Reduce Class Size

In 2005, a group of concerned parents at Summit High School started a campaign to raise funds for the hiring of teaching staff to reduce the number of students in core academic classes such as English and math. The volunteer group focuses their fundraising efforts on the local community including parents and area businesses.
