About Impact Grants

Teachers, staff, and administrators of educational sites that are under the sole governance of the Bend-La Pine Schools are invited to apply for a Classroom Grant. Student groups are encouraged to apply with oversight from a staff member. Grant applications up to $2,500 are welcome. Approximately $35,000-$50,000 is awarded annually, with the average grant size $1,000. Grants are reviewed by the school's site council to ensure they are consistent with the school's educational objectives and strategic plan. Approximately 8,000 students benefit from the Classroom Grants annually.

2009 Technologies Funded

"Teaching is more important than technology, but the technology promotes the interaction that makes learning more effective." - Eric Mazur, Professor of Applied Science at Harvard University

In addition to more traditional teaching tools like books, art supplies, science equipment and listening libraries, the Foundation also funds innovative new programs which leverage technologies to improve classroom success. We often receive inquiries about how the various types of technologies we are funding are being used in our classrooms. Three innovative technologies we have funded this year - Clickers, SmartBoards and MP3 Players - are being being used to improve success in classrooms throughout the district. Below are links to some websites with more information about how these technologies are used for education:
